Motherhood is hard and God is good 🫶🏻 God i Motherhood is hard and God is good 🫶🏻 God is teaching me so much in this season. And one of the biggest things he’s teaching me is how very much I need to depend on him - ESPECIALLY when I’m in a season where my kids depend on *me* so much and so often. I noticed I’ve been feeling overwhelmed and overstimulated a lot lately. And sometimes there’s nothing I can do in the moment to relieve that feeling, which makes me feel trapped (and sometimes, honestly, a little panick-y). 😟 So in one of those moments recently - when trying to balance nursing my 5-month-old while my toddler climbed across the back of the couch behind me so he could sit on the arm of the couch next to me and I feared for the life of whatever open liquid I was trying to sit down and drink while I nursed - God gave me this prayer. Just a few sentences to recenter myself. To remind myself that this moment won’t last forever. To depend on God when I feel helpless, in the big things and the small things. This, right here. ⬆️ Right in the middle of This, right here. ⬆️ Right in the middle of my mothering. Not on my comfy spot on the couch with my journal and pens and highlighters like I wanted to. Not in the early morning before my kids woke up. Not in a church building or at a Bible study group. Because our God is a god who meets us right where we already ARE. I felt led to read Psalm 84, and immediately the first couple verses stood out to me: “How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord of hosts! My soul longs, yes, faints for the courts of the Lord; my heart and flesh sing for joy to the living God.” ‭‭(Psalm‬ ‭84‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭ESV‬‬) And you know what’s incredible, friend? The psalmist didn’t know that someday God would choose to dwell in US. The psalmist didn’t see how God fulfilled his incredible plan to meet us where we already are. His plan to step down from heaven and walk among us. His plan to bring us to himself. This is our reality. There’s nowhere special you have to go. There’s nothing special you have to do. There’s nobody special you have to be. God has already chosen to dwell WITHIN you. Ask God where he wants to meet you today. Again for the people in the back 🗣️ Your pur Again for the people in the back 🗣️ Your purpose is not to have a cleaner house. Your purpose is not to have a successful career. Your purpose is not found in anything you can earn on your own. ✨Your purpose is to ENJOY God (and glorify him). ✨ But how? Here are three ideas to try this week. 1. Enjoy God by thanking him for everything that makes you smile today. God is present in those things because all good things come from him. 🪴 2. Enjoy God by reading His word. Especially reading the words of those who enjoyed him well, like the psalmists in Psalm 4:7, 16:11, and 34:8. 📖 3. Enjoy God by meditating on what the resurrection means for your life. Remember that Christ did what he did for you because he was looking forward to the joy on the other side of the cross (Hebrews 12:2). There is joy to be had in this world - and even more to be had after it. 🤍 Our God is a god of joy. He is a god who gives good things. Let those things stir your heart to enjoy him this week.
